My Great Lakes 2T-1A-2 Rebuild Diary 2007.

06/07-November-2007. Working on the centre section. Checked alignment of flying wires and bonded on the centre section panel.

Here is this evenings progress:

I am ready to fit the lower section panel. Before fitting the panel I have fitted the flying wires to check the clearance..
The flying wire just clears the panel. But this could be a problem with clearance when the fabric is in place and the cover fitted. The pencil area in the picture is the area cut out in the fabric - from the fabric removed.
Obviously I have to take into acount the previous fabric cut-out, but I don't want excessive sized holes. Having examined some other GL's (the ones at Chandler) I have increased the size on the ply but not quite as big as the previous fabric.
All ready to bond on the ply. It has taken a while to bond the spacers to the spars as I didn't have many clamps so did them in stages. I bonded the ply in place and fitted some brass screws - battery's went flat on the camera! Will post some pictures later.
