My Great Lakes 2T-1A-2 Rebuild Diary 2007.

15/16/17-October-2007. Working on the centre section mod. While checking the fitting of the ply panel I decided it may be worth checking the old covering. Mark saved all the old covering and this has proved to be really worthwhile - thanks Mark.

Here is this evenings progress:

This is the centre section ply panel. It is fixed to both spars and the side ribs.
This strip of wood is bolted to the side rib and glued to the ply panel .
I drilled small holes to clear the rivets - also needs the edge taking off to clear to bend radius of the rib.
Clamped ready to drill holes for bolts.
Underside of the ply has reinforcement where the tank fuel lines go through and the tank drain. The centre reinforcement (under the plans in picture!) is for the early Great Lakes where the fuel gauge.
Tank drain and fuel connection.
Wood on end rib.
End rib wood.
I decided to see what the old covering looked like. No inspection cover on the rear spar mount.
I found repair on the old covers.
The frount spar has a cover, interesting the size of it.
A big inspection cover, pleased I looked to see the size on the old covers .
