My Great Lakes 2T-1A-2 Rebuild Diary 2008.

20/21-January-2008. Right hand lower wing.
Continued reassembly of the wing making wood parts for the rib fill in. Next job was to tighten the drag wires and this is where it all went wrong.

I have not fitted the cherry rivets just in case I need to remove the rib for any reason.
Re-fitted the leading edge. I did this to show up any problems.
All the ribs are in alignment.
Aileron mounts.
Ready to tighten the drag wires.
Quicjk check the inspection panels fit.
Inspection panel.
Tighting the drag wires and it all went wrong - they should be 30 3/4". The first four bays were okay but the last would not do up to 30 3/4".
Made fill in parts ready to fit, but drag wire proble stopped progress.
Took out the wooden centre rib and checked by adjusting the drage wires it was not causing the problem. It was not.
Checked all mounts are correct.
The problems with the drag wires has over stressed the wooden brace rib. Two cracks, the black line shows the second. Its now scrap. Ahhhhhhhh.
