My Great Lakes 2T-1A-2 Rebuild Diary 2010.

I purchased my Great Lakes restoration project on 12th June 2007 in Phoenix, Arizona USA. This is my restoration project diary for 2008I will update it almost daily to show the project status.
I have bene very busy with work and other jobs, so progress is a bit slower this year on my Great lakes project. Plus my camera died, and I decided to not fill the site with the same pictures of all the wings being painted.

I scrapped all the wiring and have completely re-wired my Lakes. I have added an XCOM-760 to the instrument panel, and added power for a GPS and smoke system.
I have taken on a really complicated paint design! After the fabric work I now have the cowls - no straight flat surfaces it's rounded now! Painting is taking a long time. I am also having problems protecting parts I have painted from overspray when painting more parts in my small workshop.
No more fabric painting, now 2k - umm, fabric was easier! Mixed results but I get the hang of it after a while and get really pleasing results.

The wheel spats need a some work, they have been painted over a few times, so I am rubbing off all the old paint (maybe same a bit of weight!). I made some moulds of the original spats as I may make some new lighter weight spats at a later date.
My Great Lakes is going back on it's wheels for the first time since around 2006
Lots of adhoc jobs this month, firewall, started on new baffles. Fitted the engine mount, and a GPS mount in the cockpit. Alsong with lots of work on the wiring.
The old baffles had lots of modifications, holes and cracks in them. So I have made some new baffles.
A big month on the Great Lakes project as I refit the engine. I also made some new wheel spat mounts.
